Shopify Billing Overview (Step-by-Step SOP)
The Billing section in Shopify helps you track your subscription charges, transaction fees, taxes, and payments.
Step 1: Open Billing Settings

Log in to Shopify Admin
-
Go to the bottom-left corner
-
Click Settings
-
From the Settings menu, click Billing
What You Will See on the Billing Page

Notification (if address or billing info needs correction)
-
Upcoming bill
-
Past bills
-
Payment method / Bank account details
Step 2: Check Your Upcoming Bill
In the Upcoming bill section, you can see:
Bill Amount
-
Total amount Shopify will charge next
Next Bill Date
-
Example: “Next bill in 7 days”
-
Or “When billing threshold is reached”
Payment Method
-
UPI ID
-
Debit / Credit Card
-
Net Banking
To Change Payment Method
-
Click the pencil icon (✏️) next to the payment method
-
Update with a new payment option
View Upcoming Bill
-
Click View bill (right side) to preview the full bill details
Step 3: Check Your Past Bills
Scroll down to Past bills.
You can filter bills by:

All
-
Paid
-
Unpaid
Search & Filter Options
-
🔍 Search icon – Find bills using:
-
Bill number
-
Date
-
-
🔽 Filter (funnel) icon – Filter bills by status or date

☰ Column icon – Customize how the table is displayed
👉 Click any blue bill number to open full bill details.
Step 4: Open a Bill & View Summary
After opening a bill, you will see the bill summary at the top:
Bill Total

Total amount charged by Shopify
Status
-
Paid / Unpaid
Paid On
-
Exact payment date
Payment Method
-
Example: UPI ID, Credit Card
Export Bill
-
Click Export bill (top-right)
-
Download as PDF or CSV
Payment Timeline

Shows when the bill was created and paid
Step 5: View Full Charge Details
Scroll down to the Details section.

Click the arrow (▼) to expand each charge
-
You may see:
-
Shopify plan subscription fee
-
Transaction fees
-
App charges
-
Taxes (IGST / GST)
-
Additional service fees
-
👉 Click View in charge table to see all charges in a clean list format.
Step 6: Confirm Final Amounts
At the bottom of the bill, you will see:

Subtotal
-
Taxes (example: IGST)
-
Payment received
-
Amount due
-
If fully paid, this will show ₹0.00
-
Download a Copy
-
Click Export bill to save the bill for accounting or GST records
